About Shiping Zhu
Brief biography
Shiping Zhu was born in Suichang County of Zhejiang Province in China. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering from Chemical Engineering department of Zhejiang University, China in 1982. He received his doctoral degree from McMaster University in 1991 under the supervision of Dr. Archie Hamielec. He joined McMaster as a faculty member in Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering department in 1991. His research passion lies on the advancement of polymer science and engineering. Shiping Zhu has trained over 100 Master’s, PhD’s, PDF’s and other highly qualified personnel. He has published 300 technical articles in refereed journals, presented 200 conferences, and delivered over 100 invited seminars. He received the Ontario Premier’s Research Excellence Award, Chemical Institute of Canada’s Macromolecular Science and Engineering Award, McMaster Faculty of Engineering’s Research Achievement Award, and Zhejiang Province’s West-Lake Friendship Award. Shiping Zhu holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Polymer Reaction Engineering. He is an elected Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada (FCIC), Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE), Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (FEIC), and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC). In 2015, McMaster University bestowed him with the title of Distinguished University Professor.
